USGBC- Certification and accreditation: The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certification Program is a number of rating systems created by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that ranks buildings according to how well they demonstrate Green Building principals. There are LEED rating systems for nearly every type of building. Created by the USGBC , LEED accreditation is for professionals of all building trades and demonstrates their proficiency in Green Building applications and the LEED program. Nelson Electric has a LEED Green associate on staff.

NABCEP- The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners offers voluntary certifications and certificate programs to renewable energy professionals throughout North America. These are achieved after meeting many hours of workshop attendance and numerous other requirements. These include workshops for both Solar Photovoltaic installers and Solar Thermal installers. Robert Nelson at Nelson Contractors Inc. has taken the following classes and hold certifications for them;

  • 1 Day basic photovoltaics

  • 2 Day intermediate photovoltaics

  • 4 Day photovoltaic design & installation lab for electricians

  • 1 Day solar domestic hot water

  • 1 Day solar thermal installation

  • 3 Day solar thermal installation

  • 3 Day small wind turbine installation

Photovoltaic Site Assessment: Nelson Electric is certified to perform residential solar photovoltaic site assessments by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA)

Domestic Hot Water Site Assessment: Nelson Electric is certified to perform residential solar domestic hot water site assessments by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA)

Safety

Nelson Electric Inc. has received the silver STEP safety award from Associated Builders Contractors annually since  2012. This is awarded to companies in recognition of their safety training and evaluation process.
